The Co-operative Party is the Party of social justice. We believe that people will achieve more by working together than they can by working alone. We support the efforts of those who seek success through that co-operative endeavour.
We believe that the only way to create a just and fair society is through power being spread evenly throughout society, and not arbitrarily based on wealth, class, gender or race.
We work to promote co-operatives and all forms of mutual organisation. We work in partnership with the Labour Party as its sister party to achieve these ends. There are currently 29 Labour/Co-operative MPs including Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, as well as nine other Government ministers.
David Nevett works as a craftsman engineering fitter for the Rockware Glass Company, now called Ardagh Glass, on Barnby Dun Road. He is a member of the Rockware works pension scheme consultative committee and, in these days of financial uncertainty, has been involved with the hard decisions and negotiations on the changes needed to keep that scheme going and to secure financial security for its many members. We all face difficulties in our lives. Without the interests of our community being put forward in an impartial way, the community will suffer. David, given the chance, will share the responsibility of community actions and decisions. David also represents local people as an Independent Board member of the arms-length management organisation, St Leger Homes, devoting time effort and enthusiasm to this role. David was a governor at Doncaster College during the Hub development and is currently a governor at Kirk Sandall Infant School, a position that he has held for a considerable time. He has served on the Budgets; Sites & Premises; and Health & Safety committees. Why does he do all this? He believes in social responsibility and community spirit and wishes to enhance and improve our lives and those of our neighbours. David has the experience to do this on your behalf. David Nevett asks you to use your vote positively.
